Fuelly: MPG & Service Tracker App Reviews

Worse than the original

Another update, another disappointment. Stats still arent working correctly and theres still a rounding issue. I want the original app back please. -------------------------------- Five updates this month and still not right. Stats are not working correct yet. --------------------------------- I was forced to migrate and the new app doesnt have all the features of the original. I cant filter fuel mileage by week, month, year anymore and the whole migration process was clunky with me needing to add existing info a second time and creating a new account to replace my existing. After updates to the app it is still plagued by several issues. This update shouldve been a new app that we chose to migrate to instead of a forced migration filled with errors Still has errors and flaws. Existing fuel up data has been recalculated and has rounding errors, landscape view is still flawed, etc. Im not sure I can trust any of the data in the app anymore. We should be given the option to revert back to gas cubby instead of being forced to use Fuelly with its flaws and forced data sharing.

Flashy, but not streamlined

Fuelly changed the Gas Cubby app with this newest update saying it streamlines the process of inputting data. This means that all the fields are on one page. It doesnt mean it made it easier. In the old version, certain fields remained populated so if you went to the same brand or used the same type of gas, you wouldnt have to keep putting that in. That apparently has been thrown out the window. Now you have to scroll through 30-40 different brands. It used to take me less than a minute to enter fuel up. Now it takes several because you have to hit every field and put the info in. There are no next buttons and everything is tiny since its on one page. One person mentions not updating but thats more trouble than its worth! Ive really enjoyed using Gas Cubby and maybe theres another app out there like it, but if I start liking that one Fuelly will purchase it and &@?! it up like they did this one. Its about useless! Ive stopped using it altogether.

Great App!!!

In brief... Great App to keep track of fuel mileage, repairs, maintenance, service reminders!

Upgrade to lower usability

I used Gas Cubby for years before Fuelly took it over. I was not in love with the old interface, but it was comfortable and I knew how to enter and find things. It fit my workflow. The new version assumes that all entries are made at the pump right after fueling; that a few data items are vital and the rest irrelevant; and that a flashy interface beats a utilitarian one. If I could transfer my data safely I would stop using the new version, but for now Im stuck (and hoping Fuelly wont lose my data, AGAIN). Not recommended.

Not happy with Fuelly

UPDATE 10/8/16 Since the latest update I have been able to fully sync all my vehicles. Im enjoying the app now. I do wish I could sync to iCloud and not Fuellys servers for a sync option though UPDATE 9/5/16 I updated to Fuelly when it was first available. When I imported I waited for the app to do its thing. When it was finished updating 5 VEHICLES were missing!!! We are talking data since 2009 GONE!! I messaged the creators and had ONE response. Since then Ive gotten emails that dont help me regain my lost data. I dont know if I like syncing and the public being able to see. Aside from that I like the new interface. I have been using this app since 2009. Makes it really nice and handy to know when my vehicle service is up to do. I use it on everything from my ATV to my work vehicle

AWEOME UPDATE!!!

I rarely write reviews but I have been using this app tried and true now for over 3 years and I love it. This new update looks amazing so far - so much added information while keeping the core of the app simple (logging fuel ups). Couldnt be happier and I will continue to use this app every fill up!

I see a good future for this app

I had a difficult time upgrading from Gas Cubby due to multiple devices syncing and ending up with duplicate entries. I have to give credit where credit is due as Fuelly had very good communication and tried very hard to deal with myself and other users. I like the improvements and that they did not charge me for the upgrade. I am very happy now that my data is fixed and feel that good people work on the app.

Great update!

I love this app! The update is really nice. The only thing that I would like to see is the ability to see the difference in mpg (if there is any) between different octane ratings. Being able to chart/ graph that would be a very useful feature.

Been using it for years

Great way to track fill-ups, repairs, and even has reminders for the pesky things replacing brakes and pcv valves

Incredible Upgrade! Love it!

Id been using Gas Cubby since 2008, and the app had started showing its age -- got a little creaky toward the end there. I was thrilled to see the changes introduced in this massive update. Id been tracking data for three cars over the eight-year span of time I used Gas Cubby, so imagine how impressed I was when I noticed all my data moved seamlessly into the new app! Sure, I had to tweak a few things, but every fill-up for each car Ive owned came across flawlessly. I love the new app.

disappointed

Asked feedback, "How do you perform a search", their response, "the app does not currently have a search function. To search at this time, please log on to your Fuelly account and you search the logs from there", Edward Young. This is unacceptable, the most basic function of any log is the search function. I have over four years of data and if I need to know, for example, when I changed the serpentine belt on my car I will have to close the App go to the App website logon and then search for "serpentine belt", this is rdiculous. Im done with Gas Cubby this App has become all flash with no substance.

Gas um up

Great tool from old version and additional features been added to new. Keep it simple...

DO NOT UPDATE!

The old Gas Cubby was useful, albeit rough around the edges. Stick with it, or if you were lucky enough to keep the ipa file, DOWNGRADE and keep using the old app. Fuelly looks as shady as they come. Apple needs to audit this entire app and business model for security and TOS violations. :-/

Most aggravating attempted upgrade

From what was good and just worked, to total frustration. Wish I had Gas Cubby the way it was.

Unreliable and False Advertising

The app consistently fails to sync up to servers, rendering the ability to track a car between two people (something I need) worthless. Additionally, the service notifications dont actually notify you of anything. It will track how far you are overdue, but it will not notify you when service is due. False advertising on a critical piece to the app. I would not recommend this app to anyone. Thats a shame because the old gas cubby app always worked and was one of my favorites.

Tries to do too much

The old version of this app was better. Clean simple and easy to use. The new version while it is visually appealing is a completely different app. They should have just re-released it and left the old one alone and let people switch if they wanted. Basically I no longer have what I paid for.... Dont get me wrong it still works just fine and will totally meet everyones possible needs with ease. I just dont like the 360 degree change they made in the UI. Its a tool not a showcase.

I like it

It does what you need it to do and it looks pretty.

NO!

Went from a reliable, intuitive app to a bubblegum-looking data miner. Forces you to enter ALL identifying information about the vehicles you had previously put into Gas Cubby. Tricks you to agree to upload all your data to the Cloud under the pretense of sending you an email backup (then they only send you a link to sign in to view your data). Pushes you hard to allow location tracking. So now they know exactly what car you drive, all gas/service details youve ever entered, and where you are at all times. And they say in their Terms that they share your info.

Went from easy to use to pain

Used to be an easy to use and "light" application that made for easy sharing of data between multiple phones. Gas Cubby was great this new app is kind of serviceable, at best.

Beautiful redesign

The developer has completely re-worked the design from the ground up. The new design is beautiful, clean and intuitive. In addition, they now have an iPad version of the app rather than making users run the iPhone app in an iPad environment. Also, multiple device sync makes keeping the app up-to-date across multiple devices a snap. If you ever used version 2, you wont recognize the app as it has so many new features. The only minor complaint I have is that they do charge a small ($1.99/mo) fee to use the sync service if you want to use it, however it is not a required option for the rest of the app to run great!
